Timed typing test
The clock runs only while you type. It pauses between sentences and whenever you press F2 to hear a sentence again, resuming on your next keystroke. After each sentence, press space or Enter to hear the next one, until time is up.

Help and keyboard commands
Chapter briefings:
Each chapter opens with a spoken briefing describing the keys, the fingers and what you will practise. Press space or Enter when you are ready to begin. F2 repeats the briefing.
While typing a drill or test:
F2 (or Escape without a screen reader): repeat what to type. The timer pauses until your next keystroke.
F2 pressed twice within a couple of seconds: spell the target character by character, including symbol names.
Enter: announce only the next expected character. When a drill is complete, Enter or space continues instead.
F8: skip the current drill.
Tab: leave the typing area and reach the Exit button.
Without a screen reader, the down arrow also announces the next character.
Timed tests:
Easy runs one minute, medium two, hard three. After each sentence, press space or Enter to continue, just as you would tap space after a full stop; that keystroke is never timed or counted. The clock pauses while each new sentence is read and starts again on your first keystroke. A louder tone marks the half minute on the easy test and each full minute on the longer tests, with a triple tone at ten seconds left; these can be turned off in Settings.
Tips:
Find the raised bumps on F and J with your index fingers. Your other fingers rest on the keys beside them.
Wrong keys never move you forward. Only the correct character advances, so there is no backspace to worry about.
Capital letters and symbols are best typed with the Shift key on the opposite hand from the letter. KeyCoach listens for this and offers advice in your results.
Screen reader users: leave built in speech off in Settings. Your own typing echo tells you what you pressed; KeyCoach adds sounds and announces what was expected when you miss.
